Shane Dunne joined Athlone Town midway through the 2012 season, but is one of three players from last season's squad to place their names on the PFAI transfer list.

Town trio join lengthy PFAI transfer list

THREE members of Athlone Town's 2012 squad are among a list of 122 Airtricity League players to place themselves on the official PFAI Transfer List. The list, which is viewable at www.pfai.ie, is the most popular way for Irish free agents to advertise their availability. All of Athlone Town's 2012 squad are officially out of contract, but while Shane Dunne, Barry O'Mahony and Lee Seung have added their names to the extensive PFAI list, it appears most other players are playing a waiting game to see who Athlone Town appoint as manager for next season. Every year, the vast majority of Irish players become free agents at the end of the season, and this year looks like being no different, as already 122 players have signed-up to the PFAI transfer list. Earlier this week, Athlone Town CEO, John O'Sullivan, told the Westmeath Independent that the club is hopeful of appointing a new manager before the end of the week (see this week's Westmeath Independent for more).
