Roscommon Scór finals to take place tomorrow

The Roscommon GAA Scór Sinsear County Finals take place in the Elphin Community and Sports Centre tomorrow - Good Friday at 8pm.

The competition has nine categories including Figure, Set and Sean Nós Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group Singing, Instrumental Music, Novelty Act, Recitation/Story Telling and Question Time so there is something to suit everyone.

As part of its promotion of the Irish language, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Ros Comáin are offering a number of grants to students who wish to improve their knowledge of the Irish language.

Applications are invited from full time secondary school students in County Roscommon and each grant is worth €200. Only students attending courses in a Gaeltacht area need apply.

Students are to apply with a short, 300 word, essay “as Gaeilge” entitled “Tá sé mar aidhm ag Cumann Lúthchleas Gael tacaíocht a thabhairt don Ghaeilge, damhsa Gaelach, Ceol, Amhránaíocht agus Cultúr Gaelach” .

The essay must be accompanied with an application form which can be downloaded from the Culture section of www.gaaroscommon.ie or requested from your local Club Secretary.

Completed applications should be forwarded to Tomás O Muirí, Oifigeach Cultúir agus Gaeilge, Roscommon GAA Office, 5-6 Castle View, Castle Street, Roscommon on or before Friday, April 19, or via e-mail at irishculturalofficer.roscommon@gaa.ie
