Moate mourns late Catherine Murray

The town of Moate is this week mourning the passing of Moate native Catherine Murray, sister of RTÉ broadcaster Colm Murray.
Catherine Murray, who was 56, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Monday. She is survived by her husband Aidan and children Conor and Susan.
Ms Murray, who lived in Killiney, Co. Dublin, had worked with RTE Radio for over 30 years and had been working on Morning Ireland for the past ten years.
On its website the show has published a tribute to Cathy, stating: “You’ll have heard us mention Morning Ireland’s broadcasting co-ordinator Cathy Murray in the credits at the end of the programme.
“She wasn’t in at her usual time yesterday morning because, as we found out when we rang her home, she had been taken ill suddenly and died.
“Cathy has worked on Morning Ireland for the past ten years; before that, in other parts of RTÉ. She was the voice people all over the world heard as she located them for us and put them through to speak on air. She was also the calm and always charming presence that greeted thousands of guests who came into studio.
“But for everyone who worked with her, Cathy was a gift we were privileged to have, who quite simply lit up our lives by her goodness, loyalty and friendship.
“Our loss of course is as nothing compared to that suffered by her family. All we can do is offer our deepest sympathies to her husband Aidan, and children, Conor and Susan.”
