Today is national fish and chip day!

For lovers of fish and chips, today is probably the greatest day of the year!

The fourth annual Irish Traditional Italian Chippers Association (ITICA) National Fish and Chips Day is underway and it involves portions of fish and chips being sold for half price in all ITICA outlets.

The association estimates that over 60,000 pounds of fish and 450,000 pounds of potatoes will be needed to keep up with consumer demand today.

“We look forward to ITICA National Fish and Chips Day every year,” said ITICA chairman Peter Borza. “It is a hectic but fun-filled day that gives us the opportunity to celebrate 128 years of the ‘one and one’ and most importantly to thank our local communities for their on-going support.”

A full list of participating outlets is not available, but the ITICA's local outlets include Alfredo's on Athlone's Sean Costello Street.
