Flanagan makes two changes for Fermanagh clash

Westmeath manager Pat Flanagan has made two changes to the side that lost to Dublin for Saturday’s All-Ireland Qualifiers round one match against Fermanagh at Cusack Park, Mullingar (3pm).

The footballers, who were put to the sword recently by Dublin at Croke Park, will be looking to bounce back to form when they host the Ulster side in the first part of a double header at Cusack Park on Saturday evening, with the county hurlers taking on Waterford afterwards in the All-Ireland SHC Qualifiers.

Garrycastle’s Doron Harte and Ciaran Curley (Mullingar Shamrocks) make way for the Mullingar Shamrocks duo of Denis Corroon and Lorcan Smyth. Westmeath can this time call on the services of experienced forward Dessie Dolan from the bench after he missed the Dublin encounter with a hamstring problem.

Garrycastle’s James Dolan switches from wing-forward to wing-back with Corroon coming in at number 12. Smyth has been named at full-forward in place of Curley.

Westmeath team v Fermanagh: Gary Connaughton; Mark McCallion, Kieran Gavin (capt), Kevin Maguire; John Gaffey, Paul Sharry, James Dolan; David Duffy, John Heslin; Kieran Martin, Callum McCormack, Denis Corroon; Ger Egan, Lorcan Smith, Denis Glennon.
