Nominate a local group to receive a library in August

Nominations for the Bord Gáis Energy Book Club Donate a Library initiative will close on Friday, August 9. Bord Gáis Energy is reminding individuals and organisations from Westmeath to submit their entries for a local charity, community, voluntary or non-profit group to receive a library worth €1,500 before the deadline.
Since its launch in April, the initiative has received an overwhelming response with over 100 nominations citing escapism, education, literacy support for young people, company for elderly people, strengthening the community and many other reasons to support their pitch for why a library would be a valuable resource for their group.
Emma Walsh, Books and Reading Sponsorship Programme Manager said: “The response to this new programme has been incredibly positive and we’re delighted with the amount of nominations we have received so far which has really surpassed our expectations.
“Some counties have been very active in nominating local groups and we hope the last few weeks will see more nominations coming in for great causes! There is still time for charities and voluntary groups in Westmeath, to submit their entries before the first nomination round ends on August 9.”
Emma continued: “Bord Gáis Energy Book Club has spent a lot of time working with libraries and bookshops around the country and has seen the positive impact books can have on a community. We’re really pleased to be able to offer charities and voluntary organisations the opportunity to receive a library from us to support the great work they do.”
Bord Gáis Energy Book Club will donate a library worth €1,500 to organisations within the community and voluntary sector, every four months on an ongoing basis. Those wishing to nominate an organisation can do so at www.bordgaisenergybookclub.ie<http://www.bordgaisenergybookclub.ie>.
Each nomination will be judged by a panel which comprises Gert Ackerman from The Wheel, Ireland’s leading support and representative body for community, voluntary and charitable organisations, Emma Walsh from Bord Gáis Energy and Sinead Desmond from the Bord Gáis Energy Bookclub on Ireland AM.

Nomination forms are available from bordgaisenergybookclub.ie. Applications are welcome from individuals and organisations throughout Ireland.
