Degree for Kilbeggan woman at 87!

A Kilbeggan woman has been conferred with a BA degree at the age of 87.
Kitty Flynn received her parchment on Saturday last at NUI Galway, after completing the four-year BA in Community and Family Studies programme.

Speaking at her graduation, a delighted Kitty said: “I always cherished the notion of going to university so it was a stroke of luck being a member of Westmeath Community and Voluntary Forum when the offer came to take part in the Diploma Course for Community Development, followed by the BA Degree Course in Community and Family Studies at NUI Galway'.

'I am now 87 but never experienced any disadvantage being with other, younger students. It was a bold enterprise for us and an academic milestone which we reached in a great learning environment,” she enthused.
