Garda investigation underway into Monksland hoax package

An army bomb disposal team has declared a suspicious package in the Monksland area today a hoax.

They were called in by local gardai just after 2pm, after a woman had concerns about a box delivered to her home in a residential estate in Monksland.

After examining the device, the army team found that it didn’t contain any explosives or dangerous substances and declared it a hoax. They declared it safe just after 3.50pm this afternoon.

Gardai say investigations into the hoax package incident are underway and they are following a definite line of inquiry in the case at this stage.
