Local pupils urged to take part in 'cycle to school' day tomorrow

Pupils from local national schools are being encouraged to take part in a national 'green schools' initiative which aims to have over 5,000 children cycling to school tomorrow (Wednesday).

Tomorrow initiative is being organised by An Taisce Green-Schools, which is also providing cycle parking infrastructure to a number of schools, including St Mary's and St Peter's in Athlone.

Billed as a C.O.W (Cycle on Wednesday/Weekdays) event, it is part of one of 'National Bike Week' which began last Saturday and continues until June 22.

It follows a national 'walk to school day' which was held in May and involved a total of 40,572 students.
