Funeral details for Syd Shine announced

Funeral details for the late Syd Shine have been announced.
Late of MV Fox, Watergate, Grace Road, Athlone, Syd will reposing at Flynn’s Funeral Home, The Strand, Athlone, tomorrow (Tuesday) from 6pm with removal to Ss Peter and Paul’s Church at 7.50pm, arriving to the church at 8pm.
Requiem mass takes place on Wednesday at 11am, followed by cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harolds Cross, Dublin.
Syd, who was one of Ireland’s best known bandleaders and showband legends, passed away on Saturday night after a short illness. He was 94 years of age.
He is sadly missed by his his loving nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many life-long close friends. The family have requested no flowers and in lieu donations, if desired, can be made to RNLI (lifeboats).
