Rivals pitted against each other in roscommon sfc quarterfinals



THE meeting of long-time rivals Clann na nGael and St Brigid’s will be the highlight of the quarter-finals of this year’s Roscommon Senior Football Champion ship after the draw for the last eight was made last night (Sunday).

The south Roscommon sides met in the semi-finals of last year’s competition with St Brigid’s emerging narrowly overcoming Clann in a tight and entertaining battle.

St Brigid’s are striving for a fifth straight Roscommon title but Eamonn Harney’s talented Clann side will be desperate to progress having improved significantly over the past few years. The game is scheduled to take place in Ballyforan on Saturday, September 13 (7.45pm).

Padraig Pearses, meanwhile, will play against Strokestown in the senior quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals of the Roscommon Intermediate Football Championship, St Dominic’s have been drawn to play St Barry’s.
