Traffic lights working again at dunnes junction

Traffic lights which were out of action for more than a month in Athlone are now working again.

The lights at the junction outside Dunnes Stores in Irishtown became defunct when a controller unit burned out on November 12 last.

At around noon today (Wednesday), 35 days after the outage began, the lights started working again.

According to the council, the delay in fixing the problem was because the replacement part had to be ordered from overseas.

The lights in question control the traffic-heavy intersection between Pump Lane, Sean Costello Street and John Broderick Street.
