The 12 monthly sports award winners announced

The 2014 Westmeath Independent Sports Awards will take place in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel on Friday evening, February 20, 2015.All 12 monthly award winners will be presented with their awards at the gala function in February.An overall winner will be chosen from the 12 monthly winners.

Further details in relation to the event will be published in the Westmeath Independent and on this website in the lead-up to the event.  Last year’s overall winner was Connacht and Ireland rugby star Robbie Henshaw.

 

Readers’ Choice Award 2014

In next week’s Westmeath Independent (28th February), there will be an opportunity for readers to cast their vote on who their favourite Sports Star of the year is. The winner with the most text votes will then receive the Readers’ Choice Award.

Tickets for the 2014 awards are available to purchase at the Westmeath Independent offices in Irishtown, Athlone. For more information in relation to the event, contact sport@westmeathindependent.ie or 090 6434330. 

Friends, family members and colleagues of the award winners - and indeed the general public - are very welcome to attend the gala awards night.

Tickets for the gala event cost €45 each, and there is a special offer in place whereby people receive two free tickets if they buy four tickets.

July: Cheyanne O’Neill (Boxing)

 

 

August: Shane Shortall (Horse Racing)

 

 

September: Damien Dolan (Gaelic Football)

 

October Joint Winners: Dessie Dolan (centre) & Mark McCallon (missing from photo) (Gaelic Football)

 

 

November: Robbie Henshaw (Rugby). Audrey Henshaw accepts the award on behalf of Robbie.

 

 

December: Eoghan Dalton (centre) accepts the December award on behalf of the Moate All Whites football team.
