Top model steps into the restaurant kitchen in glasson

MODEL Roz Purcell is the latest celebrity chef to take The Restaurant challenge on tonight’s TV3 show (9pm).

The new series of The Restaurant, sponsored by Aldi, is in its fifth week, and takes place in the idyllic surroundings of Glasson’s Wineport Lodge in Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Voiced by Sean Moncrieff and now in its tenth series, The Restaurant sees six celebrities become head chefs over six weeks. They are whisked off to the home of The Restaurant, Wineport Lodge, where they attempt to produce a top-class, three-course menu using ingredients from Aldi, along with complimentary wines, also from Aldi.

Each week, resident critics Tom Doorly and Paolo Tullio, with a guest critic, judge the celebrity menus. This week sees model Roz Purcell as the fifth celebrity in the kitchen.

“My favourite part of the show was the service,” said Roz. “There was such a buzz and great energy. Also Chef Gary listening to the commentary was hilarious – the chefs really made my night; they were very supportive. In terms of ingredients, the vanilla crème anglaise mousse was my favourite.”

During service, the celebrities get instant feedback in the kitchen to their menu from remote cameras and microphones covering the dining room. The identity of the celebrities remains a secret to diners and the critics until service is over. The celebrity then steps out of the kitchen and faces the critics in front of the diners to find out their star rating (from 1-5).

Produced by Vision Independent Productions, this is the first year for The Restaurant to air on TV3, and the show has been extended from a 30 minute slot to one hour. Tune into The Restaurant on Wednesday, February 4 at 9pm on TV3 to find out how Roz fares.
