Athlone designer bidding for prestigious award

Athlone designer Shona Breen is among the 40 competing at the semi-finals of Vodafone DIT Student Designer of the Year Awards on March 24 in Smock Alley.

Shona is among the contestants hoping to proceed to final in Vicar Street on Tuesday, April 14, the theme for which is ‘cultural fusion’.

The DIT Fashion Society today announced that Shona Breen, who studies at GMIT, has been shortlisted for her design entitled “Floating Dreams” for the semi-finals.

According to the judging panel the standard of design is higher than ever. The popular annual show, now in its twelfth year, is organised by 70 students from DIT who chose the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation as their charity partner for the show.
