Local jobs boost as temple lodge and spa set to reopen

Temple Lodge and Spa in Horseleap is to re-open as a hotel next month creating 30 new jobs in the local area.

Recruitment is now underway for a variety of roles at the country spa retreat near Moate,  with the jobs tally expected to rise to 40 after Christmas, according to the new General Manager, Cora Dwyer, who also runs Bellinter House in Co Meath.

Closed for three years now, Temple Lodge and Spa was sold by the appointed receiver to the property some time ago and has been leased by Temple Lodge Retreat Ltd, the company of Ms Dywer and a silent partner.

Ahead of the opening on September 24 next and a revamp of the property, Cora Dywer said: “We want to maximise what was there before while also welcoming non-residents for dinner, Sunday lunch and afternoon tea. We also will be doing weddings, conferences, the full range”.

Initially, the Horseleap hotel and spa will open from Thursday to Sunday, however, after Christmas it is expected to open seven days.

In addition, the old five-bed spa will also be available to book for exclusive use by private groups, full membership of the gym and facilities will be offered along with the top class spa facilities using the acclaimed Voya products and a range of classes on which Temple Lodge and Spa built its reputation in the past.

“It will be a full hotel with spa facilities when it opens as opposed to being just a spa or a retreat. We will also have a full bar,” said the General Manager, adding that a refurbishment of the decor and furnishings is now underway to give Temple Lodge and Spa a “fresher look” before the doors open late next month.

Recruitment is underway for a variety of full and part-time roles at the new hotel, with everything from chefs, front office staff, housekeeping, therapists and food and beverage staff all required.
