Cyclist taken to hospital after Athlone accident
A traffic accident in Athlone this afternoon (Thursday) resulted in a female cyclist being taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
A Garda representative said the woman has been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.
The accident involved a collision between a motorist and the cyclist.
It occurred at the junction between Talbot Avenue and the Old Galway Road at approximately 4pm this afternoon.
An ambulance attended the scene and Gardai have been directing traffic in the area.
