Go green for St Patrick's Day!

There is a host of events taking place right across Athlone and Moate for St Patrick’s Day so here are the main highlights you need to know ahead of tomorrow.

The Athlone St Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off from the Diskin Centre in Golden Island from 2.30pm.

There will be street entertainment with buskers and Irish dancers taking to the streets of Athlone from 12 noon.

The entertainment continues with Shark Sullivan performing on a sound rig at Church Street at 1pm.

This year’s parade will be led by the Army Band, followed by Athlone boxer Cheyanne O’Neill, and the highly entertaining Joe McCaul.

Moate
The theme for this year’s Moate St Patrick’s Day Parade is “1916 - 2016 a celebration of community”.

Leading the parade is grand marshal Mrs Peggy Gavin and the procession gets under way at 4.30pm from the Carmelite.

This year will see the addition of live music in the centre of the town and this will commence at 3.45pm.

There will be prizes on the day for best float in various categories and the best shop window display.

Tubberclair
