Outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to get involved

Have your say on Westmeath Recreational Strategy

Outdoor enthusiasts, activity promoters, and local clubs and organisations with a passion for outdoor recreation are invited to attend a public consultation next week to help shape Westmeath's first ever Recreational Strategy.

The public sessions take place in the Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar on Wednesday March 6 at 6.30pm, and in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone on Thursday March 7 at 6.30pm.

The Recreational Strategy aims to link Westmeath's recreational infrastructure with local communities and businesses through identifying actions to promote the use of these recreational facilities.

The input of local groups is an essential part of the process of gathering views on the county's current provision for outdoor recreation, and to help identify opportunities for future development.

This is the first strategic plan for the promotion of recreation in the county, and is being prepared by Westmeath Community Development, Westmeath Sports Partnership and Westmeath County Council.
