Ita Brennan, from Kilbeggan with her €44,000 Winning Streak cheque

€44,000 whirlwind for lucky Ita!

A lucky Kilbeggan mother of three is hoping to upgrade her car with the whopping €44,000 cheque she collected from her appearance on the National Lottery Winning Streak Game Show on RTE 1 television on Saturday night last, October 19.

It was a dream come true for Ita Brennan, who is very well known in Athlone in her role as a sales assistant in the Castle Gift Shop, where she has worked for the past five years. Having already won €24,000 in cash on the popular game show, she added a further €20,000 to her overall tally when she was selected to spin the Winning Streak Grand Prize wheel.

Ita missed her name getting called out the week before as she was having dinner and chatting with her husband Tony, daughter Amy and son-in-law, Michael, but her sister rang minutes later with the good news.

A devoted music lover and accomplished singer, Ita Brennan is a member of no less than two choirs: the Kilbeggan Choir and Cantoirí Tullamore, where she rehearses every Tuesday. She says the Choirs are ramping up practice now as they head into the busy Christmas period.

The mother of three is Kilbeggan born and bred, and has been married to Tony for 36 years. Her husband, daughter Amy and other family and friends cheered her on from the audience of the Winning Streak Show, while her second daughter, Hazel, watched from home and son, Noel, tuned in online from his home in Sydney, Australia.

Ita Brennan is the second Winning Streak player from Kilbeggan during this current series of the show to strike it lucky after Michelle Connolly won €40,000 three weeks ago.

She is planning to use some of her winnings on upgrading her Peugeot 206, which she says is “on its last legs..every day I pray it will get me to and from work.”

The National Lottery game show is co-presented by Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy and features some perennial favorite games including Play or Pay, Roll for Riches, WinFall and Electric Dream – where one player will win an electric car worth €25,000.
