Official COVID-19 figures for Midlands hospitals

Latest available figures show there were 42 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in hospitals in the region.

The figures are from Wednesday night at 8pm.

There were 22 confirmed cases in Tullamore hospital and the figures also show there were another nine suspected cases in the hospital awaiting results.

Four of the Tullamore patients were in what is described as ‘critical care units’

In Mullingar, there were eleven confirmed cases at 8pm and another one suspected case.

One of the Mullingar cases was in a critical care unit

In Portiuncula, there were five confirmed cases and seven suspected. One of these patients was in a critical care unit.

And in Portlaoise there were four confirmed cases and nine suspected cases, of which none of whom were in critical care.

The report also shows there were no critical care beds available at Tullamore or Portlaoise hospitals at 6.30pm on Wednesday.

In Mullingar, there was one critical care bed available, whilst there were four in Portiuncula.
