There were joyful scenes in Mullingar hospital on Wednesday when staff lined the corridor to applaud an elderly man who had recovered from COVID-19,

John Burns from Mullingar was discharged yesterday after a month battling Covid-19 in hospital, including two weeks on a ventilator.
