Music video produced by Athlone man wins award

A striking and evocative music video produced by Athlone native David Toolan has won first place in the First Cut Youth Film Festival music video competition.

The video, entitled 'Even The Sun Don't Shine On Lonely Hearts In Shadow' was produced by David and written and directed by Richard Harvey. It features the music of Alan Daniel Tobin, who performs under the name of ADT, and is beautifully shot by cinematographer JP Quill.

The video features ADT himself and actor David Maher, whose credits include ‘Real Horrorshow’, another short film produced by David Toolan. Real Horrorshow was also screened at the First Cut Youth Film Festival and at the 2018 Richard Harris International Film Festival.

David is a former Marist College student who recently graduated from the National Film School, IADT Dun Laoghaire. He works regularly with eir Sport and Virgin Media, as well as running Lunar Horizon Productions.

This latest award comes on the back of a string of successes achieved with another short film, entitled 'As the Devil Drives'. This film, produced by David and written and directed by Callum Patrick O'Brien, won three awards in March at the 2020 Shiver International Film Festival in Canada, including: Best Horror, Best Director, and Best Student Film.

David is currently working on a short documentary for the HSE on Covid-19 swabbing centres in the Midlands.
