Athlone's cup semi-final against Dundalk to be shown live on RTÉ

The RTÉ cameras will be in Lissywollen this Sunday evening to broadcast live coverage of Athlone Town's Extra.ie FAI Cup Semi-Final against Dundalk.

The game is Athlone Town's first appearance in an FAI Cup semi-final since 1998, and it's believed to be the first game ever to be broadcast live on national television from the club's stadium.

RTÉ announced today that the game would be shown live on RTÉ Two and the RTÉ Player, with coverage getting underway at 6.40pm on Sunday. The game kicks off at 7.05pm.

In the biggest surprise of this year's cup competition, Adrian Carberry's side defeated Shelbourne 4-1 at the quarter-final stage in late October.

Dundalk, who have appeared in each of the last five cup finals, winning two, overcame Bohemians on a 4-1 scoreline in their quarter-final last Friday.

Before they travel to the Midlands, Dundalk will be taking on Rapid Vienna in a Europa League group fixture in Dublin this Thursday evening.
