Search for missing man in Athlone stood down
The search for missing Roscommon man Sean Spellman has been stood down following the discovery of a body today.
In a brief statement tonight, gardai thanked the media and public for their assistance.
The 54-year-old Taughmaconnell man had been missing since January 16, when he was last sighted near the Luan Gallery.
Extensive searches have taken place in the town since that date.
It's understood several diving and sub aqua clubs were involved in the water search today with the Garda Water Unit.
