Henshaw heroic again as Ireland crush England

Robbie Henshaw delivered a man-of-the-match display as Ireland claimed a resounding victory over England to end their Six Nations campaign on a major high today.

Henshaw laid the platform for Ireland in the first half, showing a voracious appetite for hard graft and producing some huge tackles.

And the Athlone man was chosen as the official man of the match as part of Virgin's coverage of the game at the Aviva Stadium.

The Buccaneers and Leinster player has surely been Ireland's most consistent player over the course of this year's Six Nations campaign.

Today's emphatic win is Ireland's first over England since the Grand Slam clinching victory at Twickenham in 2018. It was also the ideal way for CJ Stander to end his career in the Ireland jersey.

Despite Henshaw's centre colleague Bundee Aki receiving a red card in the second half, Ireland's victory march just could not be derailed today.

Ireland looked much more determined and made far less errors than England, who suffered their third defeat of the campaign, a state of affairs which will heap the pressure on Eddie Jones.

As England desperately looked for crumbs of consolation in the closing stages, Conor Murray was shown a yellow card and sent to the sin bin which meant Ireland finished the game with 13 men. Yet it mattered little as there was no stopping Andy Farrell's charges at that stage.

With Keith Earls and Jack Conan scoring first-half tries, Ireland had led 20-6 at half-time.

Ireland skipper Johnny Sexton delivered a flawless place-kicking performance in the process of scoring 22 points.

Late tries from Ben Youngs and Jonny May amounted to scant consolation for the English, who were arguably flattered by the final scoreline of 32-18.
