€1500 reward for information on death of two dogs found on bog

Roscommon SPCA has said that a reward of €1500 has been offered by two people for information that may lead to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the deaths of the two dogs which were found drowned in a bog.

The two dogs – a male spaniel and a female terrier – were found in a metal cage submerged in water in the bog between Ballymoe and Castlerea on Tuesday. Both were approximately 2-3 years of age and neither were microchipped.

They were removed to Cloverhill Veterinary Surgery on Wednesday and plans are in place to cremate the dogs.

“By doing this we can afford them the dignity in death they deserve that they never go when alive,” a Roscommon SPCA Facebook post said.

The post also said that the number of cases of dumped sick and injured animals is increasing.

Anyone with information in relation to the death of the dogs can contact Roscommon SPCA.
