Chamber urges businesses to apply for outdoor dining grants

Athlone Chamber of Commerce President, Alan Shaw, has strongly urged local businesses to avail of the grants for outdoor dining which were recently announced by Tourism Minister, Catherine Martin and Failte Ireland.

Applicants can apply for a grant of up to €4,000 (for up to 75% of the ex-VAT cost of equipment purchased) to increase their outdoor seating capacity for summer of 2021, and the list of eligible expenditure includes outdoor tables and chairs; umbrellas; electric heaters; screens/windbreaks and outdoor plant stands.

"This multi-million euro fund can be availed of through Westmeath or Roscommon County Council and the aim of the scheme is to provide support to individual independent hospitality and tourism businesses towards the cost of equipment to provide additional outdoor seating, and facilitate these individual businesses to increase their outdoor dining capacity for summer of 2021" said Alan Shaw.

All applicants for the Outdoor Dining scheme will be required to comply with planning codes and legislative requirements, and expenditure incurred must be between April 1 and September 30. Applications should be made directly to either Westmeath or Roscommon County Council.
