Mossy the cat.

Can you help this "distraught" Athlone pet owner??

A “distraught” pet owner is appealing for information after her cat was knocked down on Thursday, April 22 last at the end of Magazine Road.

Unfortunately, little Mossy, who was just ten months old, didn't survive the crash, and his “heartbroken” owner Caroline Brady is now trying to find out if someone buried him or moved his body elsewhere.

From her initial inquiries, she knows that the cat was moved by someone to the canal area on the grass at the entrance to St Columbas Terrace.

Caroline, who lives in nearby Iona Grove, suspects that someone may have moved Mossy or buried him and she'd just like to know where.

“That really would make my day,” she says. “I miss him terrible, I got him for my birthday in July.”

Black and white in colour, Mossy was very affectionate and had a red collar on at the time of the accident.

Caroline says he was a very special pet to her and she'd really like to know what happened to his body.

“I just know someone might know something or saw him. Some person may have buried him and I just want to know where,” she says poignantly.

The council and the bin companies have been contacted and neither say they disposed of the cat's body so she is hopeful a public appeal may yield some closure for her.
