Second holiday park plans revealed for Ballymahon

A planning application is expected to be lodged in August to transform Newcastle House Hotel and its grounds, near Ballymahon, into a 'family friendly holiday camp" which could create some 300 jobs.

In a statement today, the backers said the park will accommodate caravans, mobile homes and camping for hundreds of families with activities to suit all ages.

Newcastle House Hotel is located a short distance away from the current Center Parcs Holiday village in Newcastle Wood.

A proposal to establish Newcastle Estate, made up of Newcastle House Hotel and 44 acres, into “the entertainment capital of Ireland” is also revealed.

A spokesperson confirmed that a planning application will lodged with Longford County Council in August seeking approval to turn the historic period house and 44 acres into a “family-friendly holiday camp” and approximately €50 million is available “to transform the manor house into one of the biggest attractions for young families in Ireland.”

“The Holiday Park will accommodate hundreds of families who can explore the adventurous activities on offer in the grounds of the period House, within easy reach of the hotel’s restaurant and with no need to travel beyond.

“Games and activities will be organised to keep the more active children entertained including arts and crafts, outdoor pursuits and performances. In the restaurant. a host of fun wildlife characters known as The Outdoorables will perform each night,” the statement explained.

Newcastle House currently operates as a restaurant and occasional performances by The Outdoorables, the statement ended.
