The latest single from Athlone band The Baines will be played at Everton's big game against Crystal Palace this Thursday.

Athlone band to be played at Everton's crunch relegation fixture

This is a huge week for Everton FC - and a band from Athlone will help provide the soundtrack for it.

The Baines, a local indie rock outfit formed by big Everton fans Kevin O'Neill and Cormac Sheerin, will have their latest single I'm Not Me Mine played at Goodison Park during the club's crunch relegation fixture against Crystal Palace this Thursday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

The band contacted the club yesterday saying "it would mean the world to us" if the song could be included on the playlist for the last home game of an eventful season.

Shortly afterwards the official Everton Twitter account responded in the affirmative:

This won't be the first time that the music of The Baines will have been heard at Goodison Park.

The band's previous single, Bring It Up, was played during the league game against Manchester City in February.
