Tubber sunflower fundraiser benefits Hooves 4 Hospice campaign

A novel initative to raise funds for Hooves 4 Hospice by St Manchans NS, Tubber and the wider community of Tubber has raised €1,200 by growing sunflowers.

The students purchased the seeds for €10 a packet. They planted their seeds and watched them grow into small plants that will eventually form large sunflowers over the summer in their gardens.

It was a novel idea for school children to learn about growing plants, looking after them and also about helping to nature them along the way. It was good fun too for the adults who supported the children with their project.

Throughout the summer school break, the children plan to share photos of the growth of their flowers on their parents WhatsApp.
