Tickets on sale for Connacht v Sale Sharks

Connacht Rugby are gearing up for their season opening fixture against Sale Sharks at Dubarry Park on Friday week, August 26 when kick off is 7pm. It is Connacht’s first fixture in Athlone since 2018.

Tickets can be purchased at the Buccaneers club by contacting Geraldine at 086 1732711. Tickets are priced at €10 per adult and €5 for juniors while €20 represents really good value for Family tickets which admit 2 adults and 2 juniors. Connacht season tickets will be valid for this fixture.

Home fans will be eager to see Athlone trio skipper Jack Carty and the Murray brothers Niall and Darragh. Bundee Aki, Mack Hansen, Dave Heffernan and Finlay Bealham (who all featured in Ireland’s recent series win over New Zealand) in action up close and personal.

Sale Sharks play in the English Premiership and include England internationals Manu Tuilagi, Tom and Ben Curry, Manu Tuilagi, Joe Simpson, and Josh Beaumont (son of Bill) as well as Scotland’s Ewan Ashman.

They also have a shoal of South African internationals in their squad including the Du Preez brothers Robert, Daniel and Jean-Luc, all of whom have been capped by the Springboks. Indeed their father Robert also played for South Africa! They are the first family to have had three members play for the World champions. Prop Coenie Oosthuizen and hooker Akker van der Merwe are other regulars in the Springboks squad so Sale Sharks will field a big physical side they should prove a challenge for Connacht and will surely attract a big attendance to the Athlone venue.

Meanwhile, Connacht will face Leinster in two Youths interpros at Dubarry Park on Saturday afternoon, August 27. Admission is free to both these youths matches.
