Academic excellence at Marist College

The Leaving Certificate class of 2022 achieved outstanding results across the board.

The Marist College is very proud of the Class of 2022 who have maintained the school’s proud academic record.

With nearly half the class attaining more than 500 points in their results, it was a great day for the students and their families who had supported them over the two years of senior cycle. 9% of the school's students achieved over 600 points. A special word of congratulations to Rory Kilgarriff and Eoghan Duffy on achieving the maximum 625 points.

A word of praise too for Thomas O’Brien, who as well as scoring over 600 points also got 100% in his Chemistry exam.

Overall, 9% attained more than 600, 49% more than 500, 70% more than 400 and 86% more than 300. These are tremendous results for students who have been through two turbulent years of uncertainty and media speculation as to whether they would have to sit an examination at all.

While it is important to celebrate the work and dedication that went into accomplishing these excellent academic grades, it is also important to recognise that this year’s cohort had great energy and teamwork.

This was particularly evident when they organised their own ‘Bring Anything But A Bag’ day, the ‘Marist Talent Show’ and the annual Halloween dress up day. They had missed so much during Covid that they really made sure to get the whole year involved in every event and they brought a great vitality to the school community. They are wished the best in their futures.

A striking feature of this year’s Leaving Cert results were the grades achieved by the Marist College's Higher Level Maths students. Out of 82 6th Years, 41 sat the higher-level paper with a remarkable 20 of those achieving H1s.
