World-class photographer to address local club

Athlone Photography Club will hold an exciting talk with Eóin Noonan, an award-winning sports/press photographer later this month following the club's recent successful relaunch.

The talk will take place in the Abbey Road Artists Studio on Wednesday, September 28 starting at 7.45 pm.

The club is excited to open its doors again to welcome people back in person and will share the meetings with a host of world-class photographers during the year. The club also recently enjoyed advanced club member, Sean Ganly, giving an insightful Landscape Presentation in advance of their Connemara field trip the following Sunday.

Eóin was the club’s first external, professional speaker on Zoom in 2020 during the country's first lockdown. Eóin works with Sportsfile and over the years, has been on the shortlist in the Press Photographers Association of Ireland (PPAI) for Sports Action and Non-Action categories, finally placing 1st in 2022. He won 1st place in the Sports Action section with a now famous shot, ‘HANDLE WITH CARE.’ The photo captured Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal in action against Shane Duffy of the Republic of Ireland during the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying match between the Republic of Ireland and Portugal at the Aviva Stadium.

Eóin was awarded 1st place in the Sports Feature category also for his photo titled ‘BRILLIANT BOHS’. He has since received a special merit award in the 2022 World Sports Photography Awards with the same shot.

Eóin has captured some of the many dramatic moments in sports both in Ireland and abroad. Skilled in Photography, specifically Sports Photography, Photojournalism and Commercial Photography and social media, Eóin will share his knowledge and tips for sports and action photography, covering lighting, speed, equipment, editing tools, and setup, and give his first-hand experience from his time at sports events globally. The talk will finish with a Questions and Answers session that will be open for everyone to ask Eóin questions about his craft and experiences.

The talented photographer's work can be seen on sportsfile.com, where he is a staff photographer or under his social media profile @sportsfileeoin on Twitter and Instagram.
