Roscommon music festival announces new date and venue for 2023

Roscommon's Night and Day music festival has announced a new date and venue for year two of the family-friendly event, following the success of the inaugural event which took place in September.

Night and Day will take place next year in the picturesque surrounds of Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle, on June 24 and 25, 2023. The change in venue will allow for a larger number of attendees, with the updated capacity capped at 4,500 people.

The debut festival took place in the grounds of Clonalis House, near Castlerea.

Lough Key is already home to several activities such as zip lining courses, tree-top walks and boat tours, all of which Night and Day festivalgoers will have access to across the weekend.

The existing campsite at Lough Key also offers a high-end camping experience, including electricity points for campervans, water stations, and showers.

The musical lineup, which will be announced in early 2023, will continue to heavily promote Irish talent. Last year, acts included Irish singer-songwriter Orla Gartland, The Mary Wallopers, Cathy Davey, and HousePlants all went down well with the crowds.

The 2023 line-up will also include a political symposium featuring prominent national politicians, as well as a full family-friendly itinerary that will entertain and engage both children and parents.

Commenting on the announcement, Night and Day festival director Brendan Hurley said: “We’re really excited for the next chapter of what has already been a great adventure. Lough Key is the perfect setting for a music festival and we can’t wait to develop Night and Day further in our amazing new home. We would also like to thank the O’Connor-Nash family from Clonalis House for letting us use their beautiful estate for our debut festival.”

General Manager of Lough Key Forest Park Louise Fitzpatrick said: “I am beyond excited for Lough Key Forest and Activity Park to be the new home for this fantastic festival and believe the park is such a perfect fit with the Night and Day festival ethos. It has long been an ambition to have a festival of this scale here and I’m delighted to work with the organisor’s to see happening.”
