Love is in the air in Gertie Brownes and Hatter's Lane Bistro

Love is in the air at Gertie Brownes Bar and Bistro, and nearby Hatter's Lane Bistro, as both famed Athlone dining venues celebrate Valentine's Day with a special three course menu for just €34.95.

Owners Peter Scully and Alan Conroy, who also run Peadar's Bar in Moate, are delighted to welcome couples on Tuesday, February 14, to celebrate the season of love in style, with a more casual dining option available in Gertie Brownes, and a more formal, intimate dining offering downstairs in Hatter's Lane Bistro.

Oysters feature among a great choice of starters as part of a special three course menu, available in both venues, with a selection of locally sourced food from chicken dishes to fish, steak and a vegetarian option making up the main courses on offer, all of which will be followed by a trio of desserts.

The celebrations continue from 9pm with live music in Gertie Brownes Bar and Bistro from Clara's New Lights Duo, who play a mixture of music from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and beyond right up to the present-day, and their playlist is guaranteed to please for all patrons.

Owners Peter Scully and Alan Conroy took over Gertie Brownes in Custume Place in November of 2021, and despite the ups and downs of the pandemic, have built up a great reputation for top class food and great service in a traditional setting in one of Athlone's most popular pubs. They employ a total of 28 people in both Athlone venues.

On Valentine's Day the pair are also celebrating the 1st anniversary of the reopening of Hatter's Lane downstairs, a cosy Hollywood themed venue that has been beloved by the people of Athlone for years now.
