New five-screen cinema nearing completion in Ballinasloe

A new five-screen Omniplex cinema in Ballinasloe could be open to the public by May.

In a post on Twitter, Mark Anderson, director of the Omniplex Cinema Group, said the facility at Dunlo, next to the town's Aldi store, was "coming along nicely".

A General Manager for the "state of the art" cinema is currently being recruited, and Mr Anderson suggested the facility might be open in time for the May release of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3.

In June of 2019, Galway County Council granted planning permission to Omniplex Holdings ULC for the cinema development.

The company said it was investing a total of €11m in the development of new cinemas in Ballinasloe and Mullingar, and in the renovation of an existing four-screen cinema in Nenagh.
