Fleadh 2024 for Wexford

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2024, organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, will be held in Wexford.

The decision was made by the Ardchomhairle of the organisation and the announcement was made at Cultúrlann na hÉireann yesterday, Saturday 11 March.

Wexford has a long history in Comhaltas and has made a significant contribution to the promotion of Ireland’s cultural traditions.

The other applicant for the Fleadh was Belfast. Both venues made impressive applications with Comhaltas, receiving the support of the local authorities in both venues.

The fleadh is one of the largest cultural festivals in the world. It attracts up to 500,000 people and 15,000 performers, 25% out of state, and generates over an estimated €60m for the host region.

Following the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2022 fleadh was held in Mullingar and was a huge success. Fleadh 2023 returns to the popular midlands town where Comhaltas was founded in 1951.
