Club football league action takes centre stage

There's a full round of All County Football Leagues ahead next weekend as round five takes place and it's gearing up to be quite competitive.

Jack Cooney's Coralstown/Kinnegad lead Division One on seven points, but there are a host of challengers just a point behind: reigning champions The Downs, St Loman's Mullingar and Mullingar Shamrocks are all very hot on the heels of the leaders.

Milltownpass and Athlone lead Division 2 ahead of Ballymore, while St Malachy's and Kilbeggan Shamrocks are vying for the Division three top spot, along with St Loman's second-string side.

County players are expected to return to their clubs at the weekend for the first time, adding extra interest to the league matches. The Downs meet St Loman's, Mullingar on Friday evening (8pm), while Coralstown/Kinnegad take on Tang (away) on Saturday at 5pm in two leading division one games.

Athlone and Miltlownpass meet in Division 2 on Saturday in Milltownpass (5pm). Kilbeggan Shamrocks and St Malachy's clash at 5pm in Kilbeggan on the same day in Division 3.
