A 15-year-old swimmer from Ballymore put in a phenomenal performance to win two gold and two bronze medals at the Irish Summer National Youth and Senior Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin last week.

Jane Ryan, who swims with the Athlone Swimming Club, achieved personal bests in three of her races. Her two golds came for the 100m and 200m breaststroke and her bronze medals were for the 50m and 100m freestyle.

"Unbelievable strength and determination, topped off by hard work and dedication, sprinkled with the very best coaching and phenomenal talent, has culminated in an unforgettable week for Jane," the club stated on social media.

All round, it was a highly successful week for the club, which had 22 swimmers competing.
