Houses evacuated after 'suspicious device' discovered in estate
A number of houses in a Westmeath housing estate have been evacuated this morning after what gardaí are describing as a "suspicious device" was discovered outside a residence.
The device was discovered outside a house in the Grange Meadows estate in Mullingar.
When contacted, An Garda Siochana issued this statement:
"Gardaí were alerted to a suspicious device outside a residence in Grange Meadows, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath this morning, Friday 4th August 2023.
"A number of houses have been evacuated and a cordon has been put in place.
"The services of the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal have been requested."
