Four TUS students nominated for National Digital Media Awards

Four students studying at the Technological University of the Shannon’s (TUS) Athlone Campus have been nominated for ‘Digital Student of the Year’ at this year’s Digital Media Awards (DMA).

Adam Bermingham, Caoimhe Horan, Dara Lenihan and Anna Fenlon, all of the Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Digital Marketing at TUS Athlone Campus, received the nod for their final-year capstone projects.

The projects saw the nominated students create and implement digital marketing strategies for local businesses like Wanderly Wagon, Pax Whole Foods & Eco Goods, Image Skillnet and Burren Farm Experience.

Senior lecturer in the Department of Business and Management, Louise Murray, who is in charge of the final-year capstone project, congratulated the students on their nominations, calling them “all winners.”

“Myself and my colleagues who have lectured and supported these four exceptional students in the years leading up to and including the capstone project could not be prouder to see them nominated for their live projects on a national stage at this year’s Digital Media Awards. They are all winners.”

Head of the Department of Business and Management Dr Alison Sheridan also congratulated the nominated students who she said have bright future careers ahead of them.

“It is an accolade richly deserved by each and every one of these students for their hard work and determination in taking on these live digital projects with a range of companies while studying at TUS. They have more than proven their broad range of skills in digital strategy, SEO, social media, content strategy and analytics in a real-world environment and I wish them the very best of luck on Friday."

The ‘Digital Student of the Year’ award recognises outstanding students who understand and can demonstrate the role that digital media plays in a modern company or brand and is open to all second-level, third-level and postgraduate students across Ireland.

Last year’s DMA ‘Digital Student of the Year’ award went to TUS Athlone Campus student Chris Kearns, who was nominated for his capstone project work for DPD Ireland, where he created a social media strategy for their ‘Breath’ business-to-consumer campaign.

The Digital Media Awards 2023 will take place tomorrow (Friday) in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin.
