LWETB allocated €290k for small scale projects

Minister Peter Burke, Longford Westmeath TD, has welcomed the announcement of €289,500 funding for the Longford Westmeath Education Training Board (LWETB).

“I’m delighted that my colleague Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD, has today announced funding of over €5 million for capital grants to the education and training boards across the country. Of this total almost €290,000 will be allocated to projects in the Longford Westmeath area, LWETB.

“This funding is in addition to funds allocated in April under the Devolved Capital Grant and allows investment in small scale further education training projects at local level. Several projects have been approved and cover health and safety issues, small-scale energy efficiency measures, equipment and requests relating to positive improvements for learning spaces.

“We have excellent opportunities in further education for our all in our communities and I am delighted to see the investment backing up that service and making vital improvements in their estates across the constituency,” commented Minister Peter Burke.

“This funding will go a long way towards improving the facilities available to learners in further education and will be a welcome boost to achieving sustainability targets set in the Climate Action Plan,” concluded Minister Burke.
