Athlone woman speaks on panel hosted by Deloitte

Athlone woman Londiwe Ndlovu (18) recently spoke at a panel discussion hosted by Deloitte aligned with the Education plenary theme at the One Young World 2023 Belfast Summit.

The student from Our Lady's Bower gave a presentation on her Junk Kouture 'It's All about The Package' which focused on the food crisis and championing change in communities through creative packaging materials.

Londiwe features in a new short film which premiered at the Summit's Opening Ceremony on Monday last. Londiwe also flew to Cannes in France last year to model her incredible Junk Kouture design and received an award for the impact of Junk Kouture’s creative integrated programme.

Made possible by Deloitte, this film serves as a heartfelt plea from Generation Z to previous generations to join together in the fight against climate change, aligning with the five plenary challenges of the 2023 One Young World Summit: Peace and Reconciliation, Climate Emergency, Food Crisis, Education, and Mental Health.

The short film, set against the backdrop of Northern Ireland's breath-taking landscapes, seamlessly connects key points of interest in Co. Derry/Londonderry, Co. Antrim, and Co. Down with the One Young World Plenary Challenges, all while showcasing Junk Kouture's innovative designs. Each of the remarkable designs featured in the film were conceived, designed, and worn by Junk Kouture alumni, carefully chosen to represent the essence of each plenary challenge.

Director of Global Events and Production at Junk Kouture, Megan Kelly, said: "We extend our heartfelt thanks to Deloitte and One Young World for this incredible opportunity. It is through such opportunities that we can continue to support young people, enabling them to have their voices heard and to use their innate creativity to make an impact on our world."

Deloitte's hosted a panel discussion on Tuesday, October 3 featured speakers such as Junk Kouture Designer and Future Leader Network Ambassador, Elizabeth Faber, Deloitte Global Chief People and Purpose Officer, Jackie Henry, managing partner, People and Purpose, Deloitte United Kingdom, and Dr George ‘Jo Jo’ Boateng, CEO and Co-Founder of Kwame AI.
