Roscommon man Trevor honoured at Bus Éireann awards in Dublin

A South Roscommon man who has worked with Bus Éireann for the last 23 years was named as its ‘Garage Supervisor of the Year' for 2023.

The national bus company celebrated the achievements of its employees over the past year at its annual GEM ('Go the Extra Mile') awards, which recognise excellent customer service, community impact, performance and forward-thinking.

Awards were issued in several different categories, including 'Apprentice of the Year', 'Depot of the Year' and 'Executive of the Year', as well as driver and community awards.

At the event in Dublin, Trevor Finneran, who works at the Bus Éireann depot in Athlone, was named 'Garage Supervisor of the Year'.

A statement issued by the company said Trevor "has been a fantastic member of the Bus Éireann family for over 23 years," and was applauded for his work ethic and professionalism.

"Trevor was celebrated by his colleagues as someone they can rely on, particularly in the face of adversity. He is a true team player, an essential component for working in the garage," a company spokesperson said.

"Those who work with him daily were quick to note his easy companionship and helpful demeanour married perfectly to his care for the business.

"This is a fantastic reflection on the great work done by Trevor not only this past year but over the last two decades with Bus Éireann."

The company said it had carried out over 99 million passenger journeys this year and currently held a 91% customer satisfaction rating.

"The work of our dedicated staff is key to our goal of delivering an excellent public transport service to our customers," the spokesperson added.
