Athlone Chamber hosts Women in Business lunch event

Athlone Chamber of Commerce hosted a dynamic event on International Women's Day, focusing on the vital contributions of women in the business world. The engaging panel discussion, held at TUS Athlone campus, was expertly moderated by Chamber Vice President and Managing Director of Grovelands Childcare Regina Bushell and featured insightful discussions with Carmel Owens, CEO of Sidero, Gail Conway, Midlands correspondent of RTÉ, and Ger Killian, Managing Director of The Lunch Bag, highlighting their remarkable experiences in the business landscape.

The event, aimed at recognising and celebrating the achievements of women in various industries, showcased the resilience, innovation, and leadership demonstrated by female professionals. Regina Bushell skilfully guided the conversation, allowing the audience to gain valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs faced by the panellists.

In a show of appreciation, a beautiful bouquet of flowers was presented to the panel, graciously sponsored by Lorna Stuart Trainor of A Room In Bloom.

Reflecting on the event's success, Athlone Chamber of Commerce CEO Tommy Hogan commented: "Our Women In Business discussion was a testament to the remarkable achievements of our guest speakers. This was the first in a quarterly series of lunches the Chamber will be running called Public Forum Sessions. Today was an inspiring gathering that showcased the diverse talents and contributions of female professionals. The Chamber of Commerce remains committed to fostering an inclusive business environment where everyone can thrive. I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Bernard Tao Cui, Head of Department of Accounting and Business Computing in TUS, for his assistance in organising today's event "

Vice President of Athlone Chamber of Commerce Regina Bushell echoed this sentiment, stating: "Empowering women in business is not just a goal; it's a necessity for sustainable economic growth. The panel discussion and the support from TUS, A Room In Bloom and Westmeath County Council exemplify our dedication to creating opportunities and breaking barriers for women in the workforce."

Athlone Chamber of Commerce thanked Regina Bushell, Carmel Owens, Gail Conway and Ger Killian for their time and valuable contributions to this event, and looks forward to continuing initiatives that promote diversity, equality, and success within the business community.
