An investigation has been launched after a man was injured following ongoing demonstrations in north Dublin on Sunday night.

Protests are being staged at the old Crown Paints factory on the Malahide Road in Coolock, which protesters believe is being considered to accommodate international protection applicants.

Gardaí confirmed officers attended a protest at the premises on Sunday afternoon.

The Malahide Road was temporarily closed due to the demonstration but later reopened.

"Later that evening, at approximately 9pm, a window was damaged at this premises," a statement from Gardaí added.

A man aged in his 50s, who had been inside the building at the time, was injured in the incident. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí said no arrests have yet been made and investigations are ongoing.

The incident comes after traffic in the area was blocked by protesters last Wednesday night, some of whom were on horseback.
