WATCH: Casey Howe's stunning finish seals Athlone Town's win over league champions

It was one of those "if Messi did that..." moments.

With less than 10 minutes to go at Lissywollen on Saturday night, Athlone Town's Casey Howe produced a delightfully audacious chipped finish to seal her side's victory against league champions Peamount United in the League of Ireland Women's Premier Division.

The goal was the high point of a deserved Athlone win which was shown live to a national TV audience on TG4.

Unsurprisingly, Howe's brilliant piece of skill has since been named 'goal of the round' after the weekend's action. It was the striker's second goal of the night - she had equalised in the first half after Athlone fell behind to a Peamount penalty.

Madie Gibson put Athlone in front in the second half before Howe scored the memorable third goal, which you can enjoy here:

It was a successful weekend for both the senior men's and women's Athlone Town teams, with the men's team winning at home against Finn Harps on Friday night.
