Athlone Film Festival kicks off RTÉ All Ireland Drama Fringe activities

To kick off the 2024 Drama Festival, the Fringe starts with a bang, with four audiovisual related events. It’s all camera, lights, action for the Athlone Film Festival which takes place on Saturday next, April 27.

First up starting at 10 am to 11.30 is 'Writing is rewriting', a workshop on screen writing. Spaces are limited in the Library, so get booking (€5, from Eventbrite).

Later from 1pm to 4 'Filmmakers Network' a free, event takes place. All are welcome to TUS Athlone, to meet and mingle with local filmmakers,

Do you want to act, design a set/costume, make a film, direct, now is your chance to get involved! Tea and sandwiches courtesy of TUS Business Faculty and showcasing some local films in Hyde Theatre TUS

The third event of the day takes place at 2pm. All are welcome to the Luan Gallery to launch 'Apocalypse Anxieties', Art exhibition

Finally the piece de la resistance at 8pm on Super Saturday April 27, at IMC Athlone, The Athlone Film Festival will see the screening of the 7 short movies selected by an industry panel followed by a panel discussion of the actual filmmakers. Tea afterwards, should finish by 10.30pm. Tickets €10 from eventbrite and IMC Athlone.
